Photos and images can easily be uploaded on the internet with today’s technology. Especially in social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, posting of photos especially in matters of real photo identity is not restricted and anyone can post and use photos of other people on their profiles causing misidentification and identity thefts.
Cases of misrepresentations are chronic especially making fake profiles of famous personalities like celebrities, politicians or even just an ordinary citizen – as a means for spying or libel or ruining identity. If the person who’s been imitated is not aware that someone is using their identity for any reason, it may lead to possible and unknown consequences if not given immediate action.
This case not just happens online. Prior to invention of modern technology, we are used to manual things. Say for instance cases of putting fake picture on a resume, or some bulletin or print media. These cases are all the same. They have the purpose to mislead people into thinking that they are the person or people being shown on the picture.
There is a way in order to trace this. Whenever you are in doubt of some profile or picture you saw, you may inquire for it to be investigated. You may also use online people search sites that performs such screening or identification of the person. Using online search engines gives you comprehensive and centralized information of a person that you want to be investigated or searched on. You could also compare if the person is really the one who holds or owns a certain profile you saw whether on the internet or on a print media.
Cases like these should not be tolerated. Especially if the person who is being misinterpreted will be in danger of getting into a big trouble.
